EN Alessandro Pellican, who has a degree in Medieval History, explored his passion for photography and turned it into a profession. Skilled at using different types of cameras, over the years the artist has developed great digital technique that enhances black-and-white portraiture, clearly derived from the Leica School. He has been featured a number of times in his hometown of Trieste. In 2010 Pellican’s photographs were shown at the Galleria LipanjePuntin–Artecontemporanea (Trieste) at Passion is the difference. Part III, alongside the works of Masbedo, Mappletorphe, Gao Xingjian and Emilio Vedova. The following year, the gallery then devoted a solo show to the photographer. In 2013 he participated in the collective exhibition Il piacere di scambiarsi punti di vista, staged in Cittanova d’Istria to celebrate Croatia’s entry into the European Union. In 2015 the Kleine Berlin (Trieste) devoted an important anthological exhibition to him, entitled Magma Story and curated by Marianna Accerboni. Alessandro Pellican lives and works in Trieste. Esperto nell’utilizzo di fotocamere di differente tipologia negli anni l’autore ha sviluppato una sapiente tecnica digitale capace di esaltare la ritrattistica fotografica in bianco e nero di chiara derivazione dalla scuola Leica. È stato più volte protagonista nella sua terra d’origine Trieste. Nel 2010 le opere fotografiche di Alessandro Pellican sono in mostra presso la Galleria LipanjePuntin–Artecontemporanea (Trieste) in occasione di Passion is the difference. Part III a fianco ai lavori di Masbedo Mappletorphe Gao Xingjian ed Emilio Vedova. L’anno successivo nel 2011 è ancora la stessa galleria a dedicare al fotografo un’esposizione. Nel 2013 prende parte alla mostra collettiva Il piacere di scambiarsi punti di vista allestita a Cittanova d’Istria per celebrare l’ingresso della Croazia nell’Unione Europea. Nel 2015 presso la Kleine Berlin (Trieste) gli viene dedicata un’importante antologica Magma Story a cura di Marianna Accerboni. Alessandro Pellican vive e lavora a Trieste.
