Born in Santos in 1960, José Lisboa is a plastic artist and art educator graduate from “Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) - São Paulo – Brazil”. From my childhood I had contact with the plastic arts, due to my adoptive father being a plastic artist and having had a great studio in the Santos City- São Paulo - Brazil. He was the son of a German diplomat, and mother was the daughter of a traditional coffee family. Great-hearted family, kindness and generosity have created and helped many children. I lived in this magical environment in my childhood, but since nothing in life lasts forever, I lost my father as a child and my mother a few years later. I followed other paths to mathematics and engineering, but due to financial difficulties I stopped and followed other project and direction. The design and music have always been in my mind so when I was 36 years old I decided to graduate in arts in the City of Santos, and soon after finishing the course I went to the São Paulo City , where I began to work as a teacher of arts and to participate in the several exhibitions. It all started in Art History classes that were taught in a very poor region, as a joke seeking to attract students' interest in Cubism, Impressionism and Color classes . Working with the deconstruction of everyday objects, such as mobiles, chairs and objects around us, to stimulate the creativity and imagination of studants. From this process of teaching and learning, my works have appeared where using collage and a variety of materials such as computer scraps, newspaper, cardboard, postcards, sand and glass, the work of Lisboa combines in a playful tone, relaxed and with a strong influence of complementary colors to satire, criticism and metaphors through decomposed images, cubist fragments and the use of juxtaposed images and colors. The daily life is very present in my works trying to instigate the observer to decipher the message of the image.
