Arch. Osama Hamdan is specialist in cultural heritage conservation and has directed since 1991 several conservation projects in Palestine, Jordan, and Syria among which: - “Rehabilitation and Restoration of Balamah Water Tunnel” (coordinated by UNDP); - “Bilad al Sham project”, training courses on mosaic restoration in Jordan, Syria and Palestine (funded by European Union and Italian NGO CISS); - “Conservation and Valorization of Ain Duk Synagogue in Jericho” (funded by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Italian NGO CISS); - “Studies of valorization of the Grotto of Gethsemane” in Jerusalem; “Studies of valorization and conservation of Emmaus (Nikopolis) archaeological site”; “Studies and intervention of rehabilitation and protection of the Flagellation Convent in Jerusalem”, (projects funded by Studium Biblicum Franciscanum of Jerusalem); - “Renovation of the Library of the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem” (funded by European Union); - “Restoration and rehabilitation of the Old Town of Jifna” (funded by Spanish Government and Solidaridad Internacional); - Study for the preservation of the complex of the Franciscan Convent of Ain Karem (funded by Spanish Government) - “Restoration and rehabilitation of the Mamluk period building of the Al Hasanije School in Jerusalem”; - “Support the Palestinian Cultural Heritage Protection” in cooperation with Al Quds University, Institute of Islamic Archaeology (funded by Italian Cooperation and ONG CISS); - “Restoration and adaptive reuse of the Khan el Wakala in Nablus” (funded by European Union, through UNESCO). - “Conservation and rehabilitation of the old core of Sabastiya” funded by Italian cooperation and ATS pro Terra Sancta. - Project for training of youth in mosaic conservation and conservation of the mosaics of the Gethsemane and Dominus Flevit churches on the Mount of Olives, financed by Italian-Palestinian Joint program - Consulting Architect for Custody of the Holy Land Project of the Memorial Basilica of Moses on Mount Nebo Archaeological Park in Jordan - Studies and Design for the Conservation and Rehabilitation of the Bethany site / Bethany funded by Misereor and Italian Cooperation Arch. Hamdan is Director of Palestinian NGO Mosaic Centre, and carried out various awareness activities in cultural heritage protection. He has been the National Coordinator of the EuroMed project “Byzantium-Early Islamic” and was (1999-2002) Head of Palestinian team in the Euro-Med Research Project “An Integrated Approach to Archaeological Sites”. From 1997 to 2016 has been lecturer of “Conservation and Restoration” at “Higher Institute of Islamic Archaeology” of Al-Quds University (Palestine). Arch. Hamdan has published several scientific books and articles.
