EN Gianna Carrano lives and works between Milan and Barcelona. She started her career as a photographer in 2009, when some of her shots were exhibited at the FuoriSalone in Milan. She also participated in Milano Photo Festival in both 2011 and 2013. At the same time, her works featured in BRERART and in collective shows staged at La Torre gallery, Fabbrica EOS and Spazio Kryptos Gallery. After showing in Milan, in 2014 she participated in the Fiera d’Arte Contemporanea in San Sebastian. Gianna Carrano’s work is characterised by the intensity of black&white, the nudity of her subjects and the attention to light and dark. In 2015, her photography series Abriendo puertas was shown at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Barcelona. Besides working as a photographer, Gianna Carrano is also a journalist at the online magazine Coolmag. As such, she has published several books on great artists such as Aldo Mondino, Maurizio Cattelan and Mimmo Rotella, curating both text and images. Inaugura la sua carriera fo- tografica nel 2009, anno in cui presenta alcuni scatti in occasione del FuoriSalone di Milano, città che la ospita anche al Milano Photo Festival nel 2011 e nel 2013. Nello stesso anno, espone per BRERART e per mostre collettive realizzate a Milano dalla galleria La Torre, Fabbrica EOS e Spazio Kryptos Gallery. Dopo le installazio- ni milanesi, nel 2014 partecipa alla Fiera d’Arte Contemporanea di San Sebastian. Distintasi per il totale uso del bianco e del nero, per la nudità dei soggetti e la co- stante ricerca di luci e ombre, nel 2015 le opere della serie Abriendo puertas vengo- no esposte all’Istituto italiano di Cultura di Barcellona. Gianna Carrano affianca il lavoro di fotografa all’attività di giornalista per la rivista online Coolmag. In qualità di giornalista ha realizzato inoltre numerosi libri d’artista in cui, attraverso parole e fotografie, racconta la storia di alcuni grandi artisti, tra cui Aldo Mondino, Maurizio Cattelan e Mimmo Rotella.
