Michele Carpignano è nato a Palagianello, in provincia di Taranto il 24 settembre 1958. Sin dalla più tenera età sente istintivamente il richiamo dell'arte. Dopo la terza media si iscrive al liceo artistico di Taranto, ma lo frequenta per pochi anni. L'ispirazione di Michele Carpignano nasce dall'arte che lo circonda: le vecchie case contadine, la campagna dal secolare ulivo, i millenari abituri scavati nella roccia calcarea della puglia. A parte alcuni dipinti dove il colore, muove impulsi complessi, tutta la produzione di Michele Carpignano è sapientemente articolata su pochissimi colori, non è soltanto figurativo ma essenzialmente poetico. Con questa pittura di tipo molto intimo, possiamo vivere emozioni profonde, camminando in un paesaggio idillico o contemplando, in silenzio, una cappella bianca nel sole. The inspiration of Michele Carpignano comes from the art that surrounds him: the old peasant houses, the countryside with its centuries-old olive tree, the millennial habitations dug into the limestone rock of Puglia. Apart from a few paintings where color moves complex impulses, Michele Carpignano's entire production is cleverly articulated on very few colors, not only figurative but essentially poetic. With this painting of a very intimate type, we can experience profound emotions, walking in an idyllic landscape or contemplating, in silence, a white chapel in the sun.
