EN Pietro Cardoso fell in love with photography as a boy. During secondary school he lived in England in the summer months in order to learn the language, and in this way he began to use his camera to capture moment of collectivity and solitude, training as an autodidact. In the numerous journeys which he undertook he became interested in landscapes and portraits: the talent scouts of National Geographic became aware of his work, and as such Cardoso took part in important training programmes for youths in India and China, organised by the same globally acclaimed organisation. So,with some other students of different nationality, he gained the opportunity to practice directly in the field and to come into contact with particular culture sand people, colours and environments. After having obtained his high school diploma in classical studies with excellent results, he was accepted to SOAS University in London in 2014 to start a new path of studies in Anthropology. He continues to study new field of photographic art, experimenting with diverse techniques and new instruments, influenced by the creative spirit of the British capital. Until today Cardoso identifies unit still photography as his main passion and field of action. Infact, the cinematographic set is the ideal environment for the creativity of the artist: he takes photos during the production and the shooting of films, and in fact he regularly collaborates with the London Film School. Da quando frequenta le scuole medie l’artista vive in Inghilterra nei mesi estivi per imparare la lingua, e in questa occasione comincia a usare la macchina fotografica per riprendere momenti di collettività e solitudine, formandosi da autodidatta. Nei numerosi viaggi che compie si interessa anche di paesaggistica e volti umani: i talent scout della National Geographic notano i suoi lavori, così Cardoso prende parte a importanti programmi di formazione per giovani in India e in Cina, organizzati dalla stessa agenzia di fama mondiale. Così, con pochi altri studenti di nazionalità diverse, conquista l’opportunità di fare pratica direttamente sul campo e di entrare in contatto con culture e popoli, colori e ambienti, molto caratteristici. Dopo aver conseguito la maturità classica con ottimi voti, nel 2014 è accolto alla SOAS University di Londra per iniziare un nuovo percorso di studi in Antropologia. Continua a studiare nuovi campi dell’arte fotografica, sperimentando diverse tecniche e nuovi strumenti, influenzato dallo spirito creativo della capitale britannica. Ad oggi Cardoso identifica la unit still photography, ossia la fotografia di scena, come la sua prima passione e campo di attività. Il set cinematografico è infatti l’ambito ideale per la creatività dell’artista: egli scatta durante la lavorazione e la fase di ripresa dei film, regolarmente infatti collabora con la London Film School.
