ariane patricia

1983

Patricia Ariane lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. Her artistic practice can be described as the pictorial representation of her daily extrasensory perceptions combined with the use of flat color and influences of movements such as Figurativism, Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. Each completed artwork is the result of a initial thought, developed through an unrecognized physical sense, intuition. Being each intuitive tought non-verbal, painting becomes the communication mediator for an experience of cyclical transfer between author and viewer. The artist's fanciful perspectives carry a sweeping impulse, where the artist hopes to convey a little of herself and embrace some of the other through the act of contemplation. Such act becomes a bridge for an amplified collective conscious space, where the artist’s intuitive creations expands by connecting the subconscious of the artist with the subconscious of the viewer, giving birth to what the artists call “the creative imagination” and making the content of the work a field of limitless possibilities Her works of art are present in private collections around the world, in countries like Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. As seen in the kenotic turn of Christ that creates a forming form through the incarnation, we are offered a fully embodied manifestation of the God who is holy, yet not wholly genderless, raceless and immune from the categories that define humanity. As such, our understanding of what it means to be human can be forged as much by the humanity of God in Christ as by the social sciences, which have provided a helpful supplement to theological anthropology over the years. A kenotic understanding of Christology offers us an undercurrent for deep identity formation: we are to take on the form of Christ, which calls us to manifest our humanity in the face of particularity and alterity that arises in communal manifestations of the Body of Christ. The theological challenge to how we see ourselves and others as human beings is the realization that just seeing another as my brother or sister in Christ and repenting of my sinfulness does not preclude me from a journey of continued sanctification that leads into kenotic form of Christ. Embracing identity formation in the shape and depth of the kenotic self that Christ affirms is a move of double humiliation: it is a release of that which I have seen God as being and doing in and for the world, in relation to any culturally formed identity, coupled with a move beyond self and into building intimacy that sacrifices systems, institutions, and power for the sake of deep and abiding relationship.
