EN Urged by his family, Martin Rak embarked on his path as an artist at a very young age, when his grandfather gave him his first camera. After completing his studies in 2007, he devoted himself entirely to his passion for photography and bought his first digital camera. This was the start of his career and the moment he decided that this art would be his metier. He became enthralled with travel photography, taking long trips to various continents. However, his works are not ordinary landscape pictures, but long exposures in black and white that allow him tosatisfy his creative desires. Sharply defined and with precise geometric framings, Rak’s photographs interpret the natural landscape and human dimension, water and sky, and capture everything from the beaches of Northern Europe to the canals of Venice. Rak’s uniqueness lies in the bond heestablishes with the space he wants to capture, so that he never focuses on the human being: human life is evident only in the photographs of cities, the quintessential artificial landscape, but they are uninhabited and silent. Rak’s endeavours were soon successful: in 2012 and 2013 he received honourable mention in the International PhotoAwards IPA, while in 2014 he won the Prix de la Photographie Paris Px3 and placed third in the International Photo Awards IPA that year. IT Incitato dalla famiglia, Martin Rak intraprende il suo percorso di artista fin da giovane, quando il nonno gli regala la prima macchina fotografica. Dopo aver completato gli studi, nel 2007, inizia a dedicarsi totalmente alla passione della fotografia, comprando la prima macchina digitale: è lo slancio della sua carriera e il momento in cui decide che questa particolare arte diventerà il suo lavoro. Infatti si appassiona alla fotografia di viaggio, che lo impegna in lunghi spostamenti attraverso i continenti. Ma non si tratta di comuni scatti paesaggistici, quanto, invece, di lunghe esposizioni in bianco e nero che gli permettono di soddisfare la sua intenzione creativa. Nitide e dall’inquadratura geometrica e precisa, le fotografie di Rak riescono a declinare paesaggio naturale e dimensione umana, acqua e cielo, e spaziano dalle spiagge del Nord Europa ai canali di Venezia. La peculiarità di Rak consiste nel legame che l’artista instaura con lo spazio che intende cristallizzare, tanto da non inquadrare mai l’essere umano: l’esistenza dell’Uomo è evidente solo nelle fotografie delle città, paesaggi artificiali per antonomasia, che però appaiono disabitate e silenti. Martin Rak ha visto presto i successi del suo impegno: nel 2012 e nel 2013 ottiene la menzione d’onore agli International Photo Awards IPA, mentre il 2014 lo vede vincitore del Prix de la Photographie Paris Px3 e terzo classificato agli International Photo Awards IPA dello stesso anno.
