ariane patricia

1983

Patricia Ariane lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. Her artistic practice can be described as the pictorial representation of her daily extrasensory perceptions combined with the use of flat color and influences of movements such as Figurativism, Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. Each completed artwork is the result of a initial thought, developed through an unrecognized physical sense, intuition. Being each intuitive tought non-verbal, painting becomes the communication mediator for an experience of cyclical transfer between author and viewer. The artist's fanciful perspectives carry a sweeping impulse, where the artist hopes to convey a little of herself and embrace some of the other through the act of contemplation. Such act becomes a bridge for an amplified collective conscious space, where the artist’s intuitive creations expands by connecting the subconscious of the artist with the subconscious of the viewer, giving birth to what the artists call “the creative imagination” and making the content of the work a field of limitless possibilities Her works of art are present in private collections around the world, in countries like Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada and the United States. ACRYLIC AND PASTEL ON CANVAS

THIS CANVAS IS INSPIRED BY THE GROUNDHOG DAY MOVIE, WHERE THE MAIN CHARACTER FINDS ITSELF TRAPPED IN A TIME LOOP. THE MOVIE CAN BE INTERPRETED IN SEVERAL WAYS, BUT THE ORIGIN OF THE INSPIRATION IS BASED ON THE VAMPIRE LESTAT BOOK, BY ANNE RICE. THE AUTHOR BEGAN MUSING ABOUT VAMPIRIC IMMORTALITY AND WHAT ONE WOULD DO WITH THEIR TIME WHEN IT WAS LIMITLESS. HE REASONED THAT VAMPIRES WERE LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE WITHOUT BEING FORCED TO ADHERE TO THE SAME RULES OR MORAL BOUNDARIES. BUT, HOW LONG CAN ONE LIVE WITHOUT LIGHT, LIKE VAMPIRES, ONLY LIVING IN THE DARK? SO THE MOVIE ALSO CAN BE INTERPRETED IN MANY SPIRITUAL WAYS. IN BUDDHISM LIKE THE REPRESENTATION OF THE IDEOLOGIES OF REGENERATION. THE MAIN CHARACTER CAN BE INTERPRETED AS A BODHISATTVAS, SOMEONE WHO HAS REACHED THE BRINK OF NIRVANA AND RETURNS TO EARTH TO HELP OTHERS TO DO THE SAME. IN THE JEWISH FAITH, THE CHARACTER ESCAPE OR REWARD CAN BE SEEN AS HIM BEING RETURNED TO EARTH TO PERFORM MORAL DEEDS OR MITZVAHS—THE PRECEPTS AND COMMANDMENTS OF GOD. IN CHRISTIANITY, HIS JOURNEY CAN BE INTERPRETED AS A FORM OF RESURRECTION OR A MEANS OF SECURING A PLACE IN HEAVEN. IN FALUN GONG RELIGIOUS PHILOSOPHY, THE FILM HAS BEEN INTERPRETED AS A MESSAGE THAT THE SPIRITUAL SELF CANNOT EVOLVE UNTIL IT LEARNS FROM PAST MISTAKES. IN CATHOLICISM, PHIL'S SITUATION CAN BE IDENTIFIED AS A FORM OF PURGATORY, ESCAPED ONLY BY EMBRACING SELFLESSNESS. THE CHARACTER ONLY GET OUT OF THE LOOP ONCE IT DEMONSTRATES GENUINE CARE FOR HELPING OTHERS WITHOUT FAKERY OR SELF-INTEREST. THIS DEMONSTRATES THE REDEEMING POWER OF LOVE, SOMETHING THE AUTHOR WANTED TO EMPHASIZE. FOR HIM, GROUNDHOG DAY REPRESENTS HAVING THE STRENGTH AND KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE A CHANGE WHEN FACED WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO REPEAT PREVIOUS MISTAKES.
